Laura is thrilled to join PFWC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Intern. She is a registered nurse and licensed professional counselor with 10 years of experience in counseling and maternal/child health. She holds a master's degree in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado, and she will be graduating with her Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Regis University in Spring, 2024. Laura’s theoretical orientation is integrative and relational, incorporating awareness of the bio-psycho-social-spiritual elements of the whole person. Laura has worked in inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, hospice, labor and delivery, and in public health as a nurse home visitor with Nurse-Family Partnership. She is experienced in supporting clients to navigate mood disorders, substance use, grief and loss, trauma, and parenting children with special medical or developmental needs. With a focus in perinatal mental health and parenting, she is particularly passionate about supporting parents, caregivers, and families to thrive.
