Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion+

At the Parent and Family Wellness Center, we are deeply committed to serving all families. Our therapists have advanced training in provision of services to historically marginalized populations, including people who identify as LGBTQ2IA, Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QTBIPOC), and families with varying religious backgrounds. Our team includes clinicians who identify as BIPOC and are passionate about providing culturally appropriate services, and we have a bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist on staff.

  • The term “mother” at PFWC is used intentionally to center the experience of folks identified as mothers in this perinatal time and is a term that is inclusive to anyone regardless of gender identity, expression, or sex assigned at birth.

  • Female here is defined as assigned female at birth, socialized as female, or female self-identified.

We understand that people impacted by systemic oppression face additional challenges in their transition to parenthood, and we are committed to ensuring adequate mental health treatment for all families. At the PFWC, we see the importance of affirming gender identities and aim to be intentional in this way for children and families. We are aware of how isolating and invalidating it can be for families to feel unseen, misunderstood, or not respected, particularly when they are seeking help and support. For this reason, we strive to create an open and flexible therapeutic space where all people seeking support will feel welcome.
