During a time of great duress with a mounting symptom list, another trusted female practitioner highly recommended I work with Meghan to support my health. She not only got to the bottom of my health issues, but her recommendations allowed me to heal my body in a very sensitive and positive way. I felt listened-to and knew she was working in my best interest. Thanks to Meghan, I have my life back!”

Naturopathic Medicine

She, Her, Hers

Meghan is a Naturopathic Doctor with a general family practice and a focus on mental health. While still in naturopathic school Meghan became interested in working with perinatal women. The year after graduation she worked in a family practice delivering babies and doing family care under the supervision of a naturopathic doctor and midwife in Portland, OR. It wasn’t until her own struggle with postpartum depression that she became passionate about helping women suffering from perinatal mood disorders. Now, through her professional expertise and personal experience, she is committed to helping similarly suffering women find a better way.

Meghan’s second pregnancy, birth, and postpartum years define the timeframe which she still considers the most difficult, seemingly hopeless days of her life. Even though she was already a healthcare professional, it took months for Meghan to realize that she needed help. No healthcare provider spotted it, and Meghan eventually sought professional help on her own. Through her process, Meghan realized that her own mother suffered with postpartum depression, although as with many women in her generation, it was never diagnosed or treated. Seeing how untreated PPD likely affected her mother over the long-haul sparked Meghan’s passion in helping women identify their risk factors and be prepared to seek help, rather than losing themselves in parenthood.

Meghan takes a holistic approach to treatment, and she understands that the way we live has the greatest potential to prevent disease and disorder and afford health. Meghan’s approach includes the use of herbal medicine, food-as-medicine, selective nutritional supplementation, hydrotherapy, mindfulness, movement, and lifestyle counseling. Specialties include women’s health including puberty, hormone balancing, fertility, perinatal wellness, perimenopause and menopause; autoimmunity; mental and cognitive health concerns including anxiety and ADHD; digestive disorders; food and environmental allergies; seasonal health issues; and individualized strategies to support and maintain overall health and well-being for anyone and everyone in the family. Meghan also coordinates care with primary care providers or other care providers involved in the care and well-being of her patients.

Meghan’s commitment to self care includes: feeding herself well and staying hydrated; meditating regularly if briefly; trying to get the right amount of sleep for her (always a struggle!); and move her body by bicycling with her kids to and from school (weather permitting), running with her partner, son &/or dog, hiking with friends/family, yoga, and strength training. She revisits her routines & family "schedule" about 4 times a year (each season?) to get on track as her needs change and family schedules shift.
