Diane Michel, MSPH, IBCLC, RLC

Lactation Consulting

She, Her, Hers

For over 17 years Diane has helped mothers breastfeed their babies. She guides new mothers through the full physical and emotional breastfeeding process, paying special attention to each mother's own needs and concerns with warmth and compassion. Diane encourages every mother to learn about her baby and set breastfeeding goals. After a thorough assessment, Diane guides each mother to achieve her goals in ways that feel workable to her.

Diane is the mother of two boys and her own breastfeeding experience set her down her professional path, first as a volunteer, and since 2008 as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Prior to having children, Diane knew she wanted to breastfeed because of its benefits, such as good nutrition. But once she began breastfeeding she realized how much the experience enhanced both bonding with her children and learning to parent. That said, Diane also believes that mothers experience breastfeeding uniquely and may face challenges that may leave them feeling worried, annoyed, overwhelmed, in pain, joyful, resentful, in love, and/or unsettled — sometimes all at the same time.

Diane's background in psychology (BA from Duke University) and public health (MSPH from the University of Colorado) gave her great training to provide health services while listening to and meeting mothers "where they are at" with tenderheartedness.
